PHOTOS TAKEN BY JOHN SULLIVAN ON THEIR TRIP TO THE UK CELEBRATIONS OF THE ASTON MARTIN CENTENARY DURING JULY 2013

On Thursday, 18th July, Michelle and I travelled to the Gaydon factory for "Lunch on the Line" with Arne Schimmelfeder, ACT Area Rep. An array of vehicles were on display at the factory including a time line of the modern era of AML race cars and the Centenary Concept Roadster. At the end of our factory tour, we were directed
to a purpose built dining area, directly behind the final inspection bay. We had the pleasure of AML boss Dr Bez at our table, whilst watching cars move from one bay to another. Saturday night was the official AMOC Centenary Cocktail function at Kensington Palace. Members from around the globe were treated with champagne and canapés in the Palace Garden and Orangery.
AMOC Chairman, John Goldsmith & Dr Bez gave welcoming speeches. Sunday was the main event! The London weather didn't disappoint with a hot day (for Londoners that is). The highlight was a 100 Astons time line, from the earliest Aston known as A3, to the latest production Aston, the V12 Vantage S. Michelle and I helped out at the AMOC merchandise tent before heading off for lunch, and air conditioning, in the AML VIP tent. Dr Bez entertained us with his Germanic humour in front of a beautiful One-77.
Afterwards, we strolled amongst the cars on display, the many variants of models, Zagatos, HRH Prince Charles' DB6 Volante, Lagondas, race cars both pre-war and post war to the modern cars, cars from the Bond movies, AML merchandising and also, the 900 odd Astons in the members car park. We also bumped into other members from Australia, Arne and his partner Lara Perasso, Will Mooney and the Yalden’s from Victoria.
A good week for an Aston enthusiast and one to remember!
John Sullivan
